660nm & 850nm LED Photobiomodulation for Scalp Support

The Red Light Hair Cap by Regenomedix is designed to deliver structured red and near-infrared light directly to the scalp using advanced LED photobiomodulation technology. Built with a multi-chip LED configuration and engineered for consistent energy delivery, this device supports scalp-focused light therapy applications in a portable and easy-to-use format.

Red light therapy also known as low-level light therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation has become increasingly integrated into hair-focused programs due to its non-invasive design and ability to deliver targeted wavelengths of light to biological tissue.

The Red Light Hair Cap provides 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light, two wavelengths widely used in photobiomodulation research and therapeutic applications.

Understanding Red and Near-Infrared Light Therapy

Red and near-infrared light are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Unlike ultraviolet light, these wavelengths are not ionizing and do not damage tissue. Instead, they are absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores particularly cytochrome c oxidase within cells.

When these photons are absorbed, they contribute to mitochondrial activity and ATP production. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is often referred to as the “energy currency” of the cell. By supporting cellular energy processes, photobiomodulation may assist in optimizing tissue function and supporting local microcirculation.

The Red Light Hair Cap uses:

  • 660nm Red Light
  • 850nm Near-Infrared Light

Red light primarily interacts with superficial scalp tissue, while near-infrared penetrates deeper layers of tissue. The combination allows for layered light delivery across the scalp.

Technical Specifications

All technical specifications below are derived directly from the manufacturer’s manual. The device contains 136 LEDs built with a triple-chip configuration that distributes both 660nm and 850nm wavelengths across the cap (660nm × 136 pcs and 850nm × 272 pcs).

It delivers an irradiance of 45 mW/cm² with a total power consumption of 6.5W. The integrated 2500mAh rechargeable battery allows cordless operation, and the device is engineered with 0 EMF output.

The cap includes a preset 20-minute timing mode, along with 10Hz pulse, 40Hz pulse, and breathing light modes. Users can also select dimming levels P1, P2, or P3 depending on comfort preference.

Constructed with a neoprene base fabric and SBR wrapping, the cap fits head circumferences between 56.5–69.8 cm (22.25–27.5 inches). The cap depth is 13 cm with an 18 cm structured brim. It is designed specifically for scalp application and includes a one-year warranty.

Multi-Chip LED Architecture

Each LED features a triple-chip design that distributes both red (660nm) and near-infrared (850nm) wavelengths evenly throughout the cap.

This configuration supports uniform photon distribution, balanced wavelength delivery, and stable energy output across the scalp. Rather than relying on sparse diode placement, the system is structured to enhance consistency, which is important for organized photobiomodulation programs.

Session Modes & Operation

The built-in 20-minute session timer simplifies routine use and encourages consistency. Pulse settings (10Hz and 40Hz) influence how energy is delivered over time, while the breathing mode provides a gradual rhythmic light pattern.

Adjustable dimming levels allow users to tailor intensity according to comfort and structured protocol needs.

Battery and Portability

The 2500mAh rechargeable battery enables cordless functionality, making the cap suitable for both professional environments and structured at-home programs.

A built-in charge controller maintains stable charging and power management throughout operation.

Suggested Usage

The Red Light Hair Cap is designed for scalp-focused application and may be incorporated into structured hair-support strategies. Manufacturer guidance suggests once-daily use for mild programs, twice daily for moderate protocols, and up to three times daily for intensive routines.

Consultation with a qualified professional is recommended before integrating light therapy into therapeutic plans.

Safety Guidelines

As outlined in the manufacturer’s manual:

  • Do not look directly into LED light.
  • Not suitable for children or pregnant individuals.
  • Avoid use if taking light-sensitive medications.
  • Do not immerse in water.
  • Clean fabric portion gently without soaking.
  • Store in cool, dry conditions.
  • One-year warranty included.

The device is designed with 0 EMF output, adding an additional safety consideration.
